President Donald Trump’s nominee for FDA Commissioner, Scott Gottlieb, has cleared the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions by a 14 to 9 vote. He appears set to pass the Senate later this month.
Gottlieb is an experienced expert on health policy. He previously served as the Deputy Commissioner for Medical and Scientific Affairs for the FDA from 2005 to 2007. Gottlieb also advised the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and held numerous private-sector posts.
